Students at On Track West Yarner are celebrating after the school was awarded the Skills Builder Bronze Award, recognising the fantastic progress made by our Year 9 students in developing the essential skills needed for future education, employment and everyday life.
Throughout the academic year, our Year 9 class took part in a targeted Skills Builder programme, focusing on key lifelong skills including structured problem-solving, leadership, aiming high and staying positive.
A particular focus this year was on developing the skill of Adapting – an important attribute that helps young people respond positively to new situations, overcome challenges and prepare for the next stages of their education and future careers.
The Bronze Award was achieved thanks to the excellent standard of work produced by the students, their positive engagement throughout the programme and the high-quality evidence they submitted in their Skills Builder workbooks.
The programme has helped students build confidence, resilience and independence while equipping them with transferable skills that will support them as they work towards their post-16 goals.
Vince Gribbin, Assistant Headteacher at On Track West Yarner, said:
