On Track Silverstone is an independent special school for pupils aged 11 to 16 with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of our students have experienced disrupted education, including difficulties with attendance, barriers to learning or exclusion from mainstream settings. Some pupils also have additional needs including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, social communication difficulties and Tourette’s syndrome.
We are committed to helping every young person fulfil their potential through high-quality teaching, personalised support and a nurturing environment where students feel safe, valued and understood. Our staff team work closely together to build positive professional relationships with pupils, supporting them to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Protective Behaviours and the Thrive Approach underpin our practice across the school, helping to support students’ emotional well-being and social development alongside their academic progress. Through a broad range of academic, creative, vocational and outdoor learning opportunities, we encourage students to engage positively with learning and future aspirations.
Our Environment
Our small school environment allows us to create welcoming, low-demand spaces where young people can feel comfortable and supported throughout the school day. Students also benefit from access to outdoor areas and nature-based experiences, helping to encourage emotional regulation, engagement and positive wellbeing.
Being part of a farm setting also gives students opportunities to experience aspects of rural life and seasonal change, helping to build curiosity, responsibility and connection beyond the classroom.
Student Experience
We understand that every young person’s learning journey is different. As a small school community, we can provide highly personalised experiences that support both academic progress and personal development.
Students are encouraged to learn in ways that work best for them. Alongside classroom-based learning in subjects such as English, Maths, Science and Art, students may also access creative activities, outdoor learning, cooking, sensory-based experiences and practical projects.
Positive relationships are central to school life, and students are supported to build confidence, independence and self-esteem through meaningful experiences and personalised support. We aim to create an environment where young people feel comfortable being themselves and are encouraged to engage positively with learning and the wider school community.
It is often the smaller details that make a difference. Students do not wear a uniform and staff are known by their first names, helping to create a welcoming and approachable atmosphere built on trust and mutual respect.
Wellbeing & Thrive
Emotional well-being is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that young people learn best when they feel safe, understood and supported, which is why the Thrive Approach underpins our practice across the school.
Thrive is a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach that helps us to support the social and emotional development of every student. By understanding behaviour as communication, staff are able to provide personalised support that helps students build resilience, confidence and emotional literacy.
Our nurturing approach allows students to access support in ways that meet their individual needs, whether through trusted relationships, calming spaces, sensory activities or personalised wellbeing strategies. We aim to create a school environment where young people feel valued, regulated and ready to engage with learning.
Through positive relationships and consistent support, we help students to develop the emotional skills and self-confidence they need both in school and beyond.
