As part of the PSHE curriculum focusing on cultural diversity, pupils in the Red Group at On Track Wisbech recently visited St Peter’s & St Paul’s Church in the town centre.
During the visit, pupils took part in a guided tour led by the Vicar, who shared the history of the church and the wider socio-economic heritage of Wisbech. Students learned how historical divisions between wealth and poverty within the town led to the establishment of two churches, providing valuable insight into how social structures have shaped the local community over time.
The group remained fully engaged throughout the visit, asking thoughtful and perceptive questions that demonstrated clear links between their classroom learning and the real world. The experience offered pupils a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of diversity, community, and local history.
Visits such as this help bring learning to life, supporting pupils to connect curriculum topics with their own town and develop a broader understanding of the world around them.
