Safeguarding our pupils
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are totally committed to safeguarding young people and fostering a culture of safety within our school. We have a highly-trained staff team who understand the safeguarding risks that our young people face. We are aware that some young people make choices that put them at risk, and we work proactively with our pupils, their families and other agencies to help them avoid putting themselves into unsafe situations. Details of the safeguarding team can be found in our safeguarding and Child protection policy. Our school policies and systems are robust, and we continuously review every element of our services.
The role of the DSL in school
In Northamptonshire, the term DSL stands for Designated Safeguarding Lead, a senior member of a school's leadership team who takes lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection within the institution. The DSL ensures child protection issues are handled appropriately, provides guidance to staff, liaises with other agencies, and oversees early help provision for children in need. This role is mandated by the Children Act 2004 and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) guidance, with the responsibility requiring regular, two-yearly refresher training.
designated officer/ lado
The role of the LADO is to manage and oversee allegations against people who work with children. LADO’s are not responsible for undertaking investigations; investigations are completed by Police or, if criminal threshold has not been met, by the employer / agency. LADO can provide advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations.

Keeping your child safe online
Children use the internet every day to learn, socialise and explore, and it’s our responsibility to help them do so safely. This section offers guidance for parents and carers on how to support responsible online behaviour, recognise potential risks and make the most of the tools available to protect children while they’re online. Our aim is to work together to ensure every student can enjoy the digital world with confidence and care.

our school dog
Diego is our school dog and started in March 2022. He is an apricot cockapoo and has been attending On Track Northampton since he was 12 weeks old.
Diego loves to be in school, getting cuddles and attention from pupils and staff. He offers support to our pupils when they are upset, helping to calm and regulate them. He loves to play with pupils, using his ball slinger, and really loves going on wellbeing walks around Moulton Park. He also enjoys supporting pupils with their learning, and appreciates listening to pupils reading during their 1:1 reading sessions.
Diego is an amazing addition to our school and he is very well loved by all.
