Regional Referrals & Intervention Manager - Dartington

Regional Referrals and Intervention Manager

How did you get this role?

I joined the company based on a recommendation from a previous colleague.

What’s your typical working day like?

Unpredictable, challenging, rewarding; working with children is never typical.

What’s your favourite thing about working at On Track?

Providing the children with compassionate support that meets their needs. To see them unfurl and develop a sense of self.

How would you describe the team culture?

The team around each child is supportive, reflective and safe. The adults role model a culture of respect, kindness and joy in the small things.

Has there been a moment where you stopped and thought – this is why I’m here?

Too many to mention. From a single, long-awaited smile to those who are ready to leave us and move into further education when they themselves never thought that would be possible.

What impact do you feel you’ve made on the young people you work with?

I truly believe that time at OnTrack makes a huge and positive difference to the students’ lives. I have seen it many times and know that they carry the support, care and skills learnt well into adulthood.

We often have past students visit us just to check in and update us on their successes.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

Seeing the development of trust and confidence grow in the students. Being the safe, trusted adult who provides stability, boundaries and a sense of real belonging.

What’s your superpower?

I have many: Resilience, Patience, Tolerance, Understanding and the ability to communicate ‘no’ without ever actually saying ‘no’.

How has On Track supported your professional development?

I have developed my own skills over time through practice and accreditation.

What advice would you give to someone considering applying?

Whilst the rewards are plenty, the days can be challenging. Be ready to learn about yourself and reflect on your own thoughts and feelings, and question what you think you know.

What makes On Track different from other places you’ve worked?

The staff team, a collective focus on the student and their needs, a common goal to provide effective support.

Anything else you would want someone to know about working at On Track?

If you readily connect with young people, if you enjoy their company and want them to succeed, OnTrack wholeheartedly agrees with you.
