On Track Education has doubled its capacity since opening a second site at Swift House in 2023 on the historic Quidenham Hall estate in Norfolk. The independent special school, founded in 2005, now provides 60 places across its two sites, further expanding its specialist provision.
Building on the success of its original school in Mildenhall, Suffolk, the site at Swift House has expanded On Track’s specialist provision, offering more places for pupils with autism or autism traits at Key stage 3 and Key stage 4.
Swift House sits on a site with origins dating back to 1000. The current hall was largely rebuilt in the early 1600s by Thomas Holland and has passed through generations of the Holland, Bristow, and Keppel families. In 1948, the Carmelite community acquired the property, transforming it into a monastery which continues to this day. Swift House itself occupies a former hospice and administrative buildings, which have been carefully renovated to meet the needs of On Track Education.
Since welcoming its first intake of pupils in September 2023, and with a second phase opened in Spring 2024, Swift House has created a calm, inclusive environment for pupils. With small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios, the school provides tailored support, ensuring every pupil has the chance to succeed across a full curriculum up to GCSE level.
Facilities at Swift House are designed to support both learning and well-being. The site includes an astro turf and grass area for outdoor activities, while pupils also take part in weekly sessions at the local gym and swimming pool. Nearby parks and village halls are also used for recreational activities, helping pupils build confidence, enjoy physical activity, and engage with the wider community.
Deputy Head Anina Carkeek said:
“At Swift House, we keep our groups small, which means we can provide the individualised attention each young person needs. The location is perfect, it’s quiet, it’s calm, and for our pupils, that makes a real difference.
“We’re here to help them grow in confidence, learn at their own pace, and achieve the best outcomes possible.”
With up to 30 pupils now accommodated at Swift House, alongside 30 at Mildenhall, On Track Education’s expansion into Quidenham Hall represents a significant step forward in specialist provision across the region.
