We are delighted to announce that On Track Wisbech has achieved the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction, recognising the fantastic commitment of pupils and staff to making a positive difference to the environment.
By completing the Green Flag Award, On Track Wisbech is also now recognised as a UNESCO-aligned Green School, marking another fantastic achievement for the whole school community.
Environmental learning at Wisbech has involved pupils taking an active role in a wide range of practical projects. The Eco-Schools assessors particularly praised the school's sensory garden, highlighting it as the school's greatest overall success. Pupils have grown and cared for plants and found creative ways to reuse existing materials, including repurposing an old wooden bench into a potting table.
The feedback also celebrated the birdboxes expertly crafted by pupils, their perseverance with litter picking and their work learning more about recycling. One of the school's Eco-Ambassadors even contacted the local council to request a bin outside the school and successfully helped to get one installed.
Pupils have also supported a local alpaca farm, helping to grow fruit and vegetables and plant trees, creating another opportunity to learn first-hand about sustainability and biodiversity.

They have really embraced the opportunity to learn about the environment, take responsibility and turn their ideas into positive action. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and confidence grow through the different projects, and this recognition is a wonderful reflection of everything they have achieved.”
The Green Flag with Distinction is a wonderful recognition of the enthusiasm, perseverance and responsibility shown by pupils and staff at On Track Wisbech, and we look forward to building on their environmental work in the year ahead.
