Wisbech students pay their respects on Remembrance Day

13 Nov

Students from On Track Wisbech visited the local war memorial to pay their respects to those who have fallen in service to our country. The group took part in the ceremony alongside local representatives, war veterans, current serving officers and members of the local council.

In preparation for the event, pupils created a beautiful handmade wreath using their own handprints and individually crafted poppies. The wreath was thoughtfully assembled by student Zoe Harris, and Brooke Caldwell also helped present it at the memorial.

We are especially proud of Poppy Millington, who represented the school with great dignity by laying the wreath and bowing in remembrance. All of our students showed exceptional respect throughout the ceremony and demonstrated a clear understanding of the importance of the occasion.

After returning to school, pupils spent time reflecting on what they are grateful for and exploring the history and significance of 11 November, deepening their understanding of remembrance and its continuing relevance today.

It was a moving and meaningful experience for all involved, and we are very proud of the maturity and respect shown by our students.
