THE JOB
- • To plan, deliver and evidence parts of individual learning programmes 1:1 or in small groups, including undertaking appropriate risk assessment
- To maintain an awareness of safeguarding and making this a priority, reporting all concerns promptly
- To implement strategies to support pupils with Special Educational Needs to access learning throughout the school day, building rapport and being a trusted adult
- To provide specific and targeted support, depending on individual pupil needs, ensuring safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.
- To encourage the development of strategies for young people to manage behaviour, anger and frustration.

THE PERSON
- Experience of working with children and young people
- An interest in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
- An ability to effectively and positively manage challenging behaviour
- Professional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT proficiency
- You will be required to transport pupils so you must be able to drive and have access to your own car

SALARY

THE JOB
- Undertake subject teaching responsibility and ensure all pupils develop their knowledge and skills and make good progress in their learning
- Work with the Head Teacher to deliver a sequenced curriculum which builds knowledge and skills towards agreed end points
- Effectively monitor the progress of each pupil, checking their understanding systematically and effectively, putting in place clearly directed and timely interventions

- Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered

Part-time Maths Teacher/Tutor

We now have eight independent special schools, and additional support services, around the country for young people with a range of diverse special educational needs. Our recently established Post-16 program, based in Trowbridge, is designed to provide a dynamic and supportive learning environment where students can excel academically, grow personally, and prepare for their future lives. We foster skills such as critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and teamwork. Our supportive pastoral care ethos ensures that every student feels valued, respected, and equipped to face challenges with confidence. Students study a bespoke programme which is designed to meet their individual needs.
Due to expansion, we are looking for a part-time Maths Teacher. A Qualified Teacher is preferred but consideration will be given to education professionals with other teaching qualifications who have experience of teaching Maths. You must have experience of working with young people in an SEN environment and be passionate about the social and emotional wellbeing of children. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the pupils is essential.
Working hours:
Monday to Wednesday 830am to 4430pm.

About you
