THE JOB 

Support vulnerable young people aged 11 – 16 years, helping to raise their emotional wellbeing and their aspirations to learn.
Develop an understanding of safeguarding and always make this a priority
Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, developing an understanding of their Special Educational Needs.
Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil’s Behaviour Support Plan
Provide specific support, dependent upon their individual needs, ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.

THE PERSON

Experience of working with children and young people
Experience of SEN an advantage
An interest in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
An ability to effectively and positively manage challenging behaviour
Professional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT proficiency

SALARY: 

£24,420 per annum.

and skills and make good progress in their learning

·         Work with the Head Teacher and leadership team to deliver a sequenced curriculum
which builds knowledge and skills towards agreed end points

·         Effectively monitor the progress of each pupil, checking their understanding
systematically and effectively, putting in place clearly directed and timely interventions

Full-time salary £28,620 - £39,300 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.  This is the actual salary you will receive as you will be paid all year round including the school holidays. Full-time or part-time considered.  Full-time is 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

THE JOB

●        Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

●        Contribute to the ongoing development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school

●        Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
●        To advise and assist parents and pupils to reduce pupils' absenteeism, and to provide liaison between pupils, the school and/or parents to secure pupils' regular attendance at school, including assisting in identifying problems of which a pupil's irregular attendance may be a symptom.

●        To facilitate the educational partnership between home, school, wider school community and other agencies, by support, liaison and negotiation; and where conflict arises to act as a facilitator in finding successful resolutions.

INTERVENTION LEAD

Mildenhall, Suffolk

On Track Education in Mildenhall, Suffolk is a small, independent special school, established in 2005, for pupils aged 11 to 16 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.   Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in January 2019 and we received judgements of ‘good’ in all categories.  The school facilities include vocational workshops for car mechanics and woodwork, an art workshop, food technology kitchen, astro-pitch, ICT suite and other subject specific classrooms.  Our pupils are taught in very small groups, or 1:1, with a high staff ratio.

We support our pupils to fulfil their potential by giving them unconditional support, providing them with good quality teaching and empowering them to effectively manage their own behaviour.  The school’s curriculum and ethos is underpinned by the principles of the THRIVE approach which promotes children’s and young people’s positive mental health.

This is a new role to help set up and then manage, interventions and provisions, that are an alternative to suspension.   This is a great opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children who may have been educationally overlooked and to work as part of a dedicated and supportive team

You must have experience of working with children with a range of behavioural needs and experience of working in a leadership role.  A qualified Teacher would be an advantage but is not essential.  You will need a full, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle for when you are required to work offsite or at our         satellite school based in Quidenham, Norfolk.
