THE JOB 

Support vulnerable young people aged 11 – 16 years, helping to raise their emotional wellbeing and their aspirations to learn.
Develop an understanding of safeguarding and always make this a priority
Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, developing an understanding of their Special Educational Needs.
Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil’s Behaviour Support Plan
Provide specific support, dependent upon their individual needs, ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.

Setting personalised learning targets based on pupils’ prior attainment, ensuring individual needs and potential are recognised and supported
Planning with full consideration of each pupil’s special educational needs, creating inclusive, accessible learning experiences tailored to their profiles

The Role

You will play a key part in helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, and make meaningful progress. Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivery of an engaging English curriculum that enables all pupils to enjoy learning, achieve well, and make good progress towards clearly defined outcomes
Teaching clear, structured lessons that help pupils grasp and retain key concepts in their long-term memory
Setting personalised learning targets based on pupils’ prior attainment, ensuring individual needs and potential are recognised and supported
Planning with full consideration of each pupil’s special educational needs, creating inclusive, accessible learning experiences tailored to their profiles
·         Supporting young people in developing effective strategies to manage behaviour, anger and frustration in a constructive way

About you

 

We’re looking for a dedicated and creative educator with a genuine passion for working with young people. Ideally, you will:

 

·         Have qualified teacher status

·         Have experience delivering English lessons to secondary school pupils, with the ability to make learning informative, hands-on and inspiring

Be passionate about supporting pupils with SEN, understanding the importance of patience, flexibility and empathy
Possess a positive approach to behaviour management, helping students feel safe, respected and ready to learn
Be committed to ongoing professional development and continually improving your practice
Have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle, insured for business use

·         £28,620 - £39,300 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience

·         This will be pro rata for part-time hours

Working Hours

 

Part-time: Three days a week between Monday and Friday, 8.30am and 4.30pm. Specific days to be discussed at interview.
